Description Crispin Flowerday (not receiving bugmail) 2004-07-28 20:11:57 UTC
Distribution: Debian 3.1
Package: control-center
Severity: normal
Version: GNOME2.7.4 2.7.0
Gnome-Distributor: GNOME.Org
Synopsis: Crash inside _gnome_vfs_drive_from_corba
Bugzilla-Product: control-center
Bugzilla-Component: background
Bugzilla-Version: 2.7.0
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.7.2)
Description:
Whenever I start the gnome-background-properties (or nautilus), using a
fresh jhbuild gnome 2.7 build from today, it looks like gnome-vfs is
crashing for me. There is no output on the console.

FWIW, I have hal and dbus running, using the latest packages from
debian/unstable (0.2.95-2 and 0.21-7) respectively.

Comment 1 Crispin Flowerday (not receiving bugmail) 2004-07-28 20:25:51 UTC
This appears to have been caused by running some old component out of my gnome
2.6 installation, possibly the gnome-vfs-daemon, but a few null checks should
possibly be put in there :-)

Hmm, and bug-buddy put this in control-center, I'm moving it to gnome-vfs, where
the crash really occurs

Comment 3 Christophe Fergeau 2004-08-09 13:12:00 UTC
Crispin, is hal support enabled in gnome-vfs?
Ricardo, do you have hal installed, if yes, same question as for Crispin ;)
Comment 4 Crispin Flowerday (not receiving bugmail) 2004-08-09 13:19:40 UTC
It doesn't look to be linked against hal to me.

Comment 6 Allison Karlitskaya (desrt) 2004-08-16 20:24:25 UTC
Someone on #nautilus had this problem yesterday.

I'm fairly sure it's caused entirely by having a gnome-vfs-daemon that's out of
sync with libgnomevfs (in his case, he had an /opt/gnome2/ that
bonobo-activation-server was starting gnome-vfs-daemon out of.)

Does anyone have a counterexample?
Comment 7 Christophe Fergeau 2004-08-29 17:25:59 UTC
Lowering priority since the only known example of that happening is when someone
is running the 2.6 gnome-vfs-daemon with an app linked against gnome-vfs 2.7.
