Description Steven Van Impe 2004-07-01 11:52:11 UTC
*) When I go to "Network" in the "Computer" location, I see a windows computer
in my network. However, I don't see any of it's shares (default C$ share, and a
shared folder I made myself), and only get the message: "You don't have the
permissions necessary to view the contents of Windows Network: <hostname>".
Shouldn't I at least get asked for authentication when I don't have permission ?
-> When I type in smb://<hostname>/<sharename> in the Location dialog, I do get
a dialog asking for authentication, and all is well afterwards.

*) On this PC I have some NFS shares set up, that I can mount fine from my other
PC. However they don't show up in the "Network" location on that other PC. I
thought I could browse NFS shares with Nautilus as well?

I am using Arch Linux (latest version). Gnome version is 2.6.1.

I would just like to add that I'm currently using Fedora Core 3, and using
Windows shares works like a charm (I can browse and use them with no problems).

I've given up on Arch Linux (many many distribution specific issues), so if
no-one else reported these issues, I guess it's fine to close this bug.

Your original problem was caused by a bug in the gnome-vfs smb auth code. It
should be fixed in 2.10.
