GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 143817
Folder contents scroll down as thumbnails are generated in icon view
Last modified: 2020-12-31 10:19:26 UTC
If you open directory containing large number of thumbnailable files, and scroll somewhere down, window contents will scroll down as Nautilus after generating thumbnails for currently visible images goes back to processing files earlier in listing. This is because mime type icons are replaced with slightly larger thumbnails, pushing rest of windows contents down. This is very annoying, making any operation on visible files sort of cat-and-mouse game. Solution: Nautilus should anchor scroll position to first currently visible icon, instead of offset from top.
Thanks for your bug report! I can still see this behavior with a recent Nautilus version.
