Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately, that stack trace is not very useful in
determining the cause of the crash. Please make sure that gnome-vfs was compiled
with debugging symbols and see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/getting-traces.cgi for
more information about useful stack traces.

Most of the duplicates are bogus (not really duplicates). Since the original
stack is not very useful and the false dups don't help, I'm marking it NEEDINFO
again for now.

Comment 18 Martin Wehner 2005-12-18 19:11:42 UTC
Please don't dup this anymore, almost all of the dups are wrong.

It doesn't crash there, that's just what the main thread happens to be doing when it crashes elsewhere:

  • #0 ___newselect_nocancel
    from /lib/tls/libc.so.6
  • #1 _XPollfdCacheDel
    from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6
  • #2 _XRead
    from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6
  • #3 _XReply
    from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6
  • #4 XGetSelectionOwner
    from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6
  • #5 gdk_selection_owner_get_for_display

All the dups crash in some gnome-vfs module (most in sftp, some in http, the original in file).
Comment 19 Martin Wehner 2005-12-18 19:17:46 UTC
In fact, not all crashes are in gnome-vfs - Some crashes are from librsvg or libcroco, some are impossible to tell (the crashing thread is missing).

It looks like the original bug hasn't been reported for ages.
