Description Yasholomew Yashinski 2004-04-02 02:50:20 UTC
I'd like to request the ability to add a buffer in preferences, especially for
online radio.
Comment 1 Bastien Nocera 2004-04-05 14:32:23 UTC
The xine-lib backend already has a buffer.

Comment 3 Colin Walters 2004-04-09 02:15:56 UTC
The GStreamer already uses a buffer as well. You want a way to adjust the size
or something?
Comment 4 Yasholomew Yashinski 2004-04-12 16:16:41 UTC
My apologies for being vague. I'd like to request a variable buffer to be added
to preferences.

Comment 6 Sebastien Bacher 2005-06-19 20:05:18 UTC
any reason to put an setting for the buffer? I think that users don't want to
know about the buffer, this should "just work", no?
Comment 7 chris roddy 2005-06-20 02:49:38 UTC
for most rhythmbox users, a short buffer is adequate because it only needs to
keep up with local system load and disk throughput -- and a smart default should
"just work" for them. users whose local libraries are network-mounted (over
samba or nfs, for example) would benefit from the option to configure a much
longer buffer to cover network congestion.
Comment 8 Jonathan Matthew 2006-01-09 22:57:30 UTC
Marking all buffering-related bugs as duplicates of #172389, even though they don't all request the same behaviour. Any attempt at fixing these problems will have to address them all.
