Description Murray Cumming 2003-12-13 14:59:00 UTC
Nautilus can now use Shift-Alt-Up and Shift-Alt-Down for keyboard
navigation, for open-and-close-current. Users can't use this feature as
long as metacity is using the same keybinding for "Move window one
workspace [up|down]".

There has been lots of discussion about this on the Nautilus and Usability
list. Use of ctrl instead of shift has also been discussed in bug 127396.

As an alternative for metacity, users can use the window menu. Not very
many people seem to know about this keybinding anyway. A few are sure to
complain loudly if we change the defaults, but they can use the "Keyboard
Shortcuts" control panel to put it back. Bug 126674 describes an
alternative keybinding idea.

I'm using Ctrl+Shift+Alt+[up|down|left|right] to move windows on
another workspace and I find it's a convenient keybinding (not too far
from Ctrl+Alt+[up|down|left|right]).

Changed defaults to <Control><Alt><Shift> arrow for HEAD

Seems like a good call to me, not many people use the "move window to
workspace" bindings, those that care deeply can customize.
