Description Reinout van Schouwen 2003-09-17 16:27:23 UTC
To rename a file or folder in Nautilus the user has to activate the Rename
option from the context or File menu. This is an RFE for quick access to
the Rename functionality by holding Alt and clicking an icon title.

I know for a fact that it works this way in IBM's Workplace Shell, I'm not
sure about other environments.

Unless I'm mistaken, a mouse click with the Alt modifier is not assigned to
anything else yet. As far as I can see this will have no impact on other
functionality.

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been
reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report
any further bugs you find.

Also, Alt-click has been taken by Metacity. Granted, metacity has
been moving towards using Super-click instead, but it still defaults
to grabbing Alt-click if there is no super key (i.e. the windows logo
key). Thus, it would probably have to be a different keybinding.
