Other than bug 101842, which I just marked as a duplicate of this bug,
this appears to be a unique stack trace (according to the
simple-dup-finder).

Note that bug 101842 was a crash in nautilus 2.0.6, so it appears this
bug has been around for a while. It must be somewhat rare, though, as
this bug and 101842 are the only reports of it in gnome bugzilla. The
reporter of bug 101842 had the following additional information.
   Steps to reproduce the problem:
   1. Click in Nautilus window that is in background
   2. Crash

   How often does this happen?
Started crashing after trying to do pull down menu on a .jpg file
to move to trash. Now crashes regularly.

Mark Finlay just barely got this (also with 2.3.x). His comments:

I've tested this on 2 separate machines, one on rh8 and one on rh9.

When (but not always) I click on a folder on the desktop, it will
open, but so will a window showing $HOME. If i close the window
with $HOME then the icon view in the other folder will crash.

Also, right-clicking in the folder that i opened from the desktop
  will crash it.

This may be to do with $HOME as desktop. I'm not sure...

  - Additional Comments From Mark Finlay 2003-08-28 17:12 -

  > If i close the window with $HOME
  > then the icon view in the other folder will crash.

Well actually i just get the "icon view has encountered an error"
dialog and the icon view disappears.
Comment 5 Mark Finlay 2003-08-29 17:44:09 UTC
I turned of $HOME as desktop and sys-linked ~/Desktop to ~/ and am
still getting what i described above.

Comment 7 Elijah Newren 2003-09-14 02:55:19 UTC
From the reporter of bug 122227 (who was using nautilus-2.4.x):

Description of the crash: Whenever nautilus is right clicked on
either in an area with no file or on a file, it crashes.

  Steps to reproduce the crash:
  1. Open Nautilus through the home icon on the desktop (I suppose
you could open it any way really... just haven't tried it that
  way)
  2. Right click on a file or on the background
  3. See Nautilus crash.

Expected Results: It should bring up a menu showing options.

How often does this happen? Nearly every time.
Comment 8 Kjartan Maraas 2003-09-16 20:20:02 UTC
Can't reproduce this here with 2.4.0.
Comment 9 Alexander Larsson 2003-09-18 10:15:38 UTC
I think this is related to a long-standing problem where after a while
(long time usually) the home icon on the desktop starts misbehaving,
not opening a window when clicked and the second time you get a window
that crashes as soon as you do something with it.

Bug 120585 has the same, but for the list view, so this doesn't seem
view-specific.

No dups with Nautilus > 2.4, marking NEEDINFO for now.

no news in month, bug closed. Feel free to reopen if that happens again.
