GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 109841
Layer mask is not saved in PSD files
Last modified: 2006-05-14 17:23:58 UTC
If I save a file with layer masks as XFC or PSD, and reopen it, there are no masks at all - completely removed. I have the latest builds off Jernej's page (which I assume is pre1 due to the -1 on the end - I don't know where else to see it).
This is a known problem that should be fixed in the next release. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 108962 ***
The fix for bug #108962 is part of the stable release 1.2.4. Closing this bug.
This bug is different to bug #108962 in that it also mentions PSD, and the PSD part is still reproducable. Should this report be reopened (and the title changed accordingly)?
Re-opening and changing title. Sigh!
Pedro, can this be reproduced on other platforms than Windows? If yes, please change the OS field in this bug report.
Yes, it happens in all systems and in both branches. Apparently the PSD save plug-in just does not support saving the mask. I'm lowering the severity to normal though: a minor part of the component is non-functional.
This is an enhancement request against the psd save plug-in. Setting milestone to Future, as it is unlikely that this will get considered before the feature freeze. Dave.

This was fixed a while ago: 2006-03-31 Sven Neumann <sven@gimp.org> * plug-ins/common/psd_save.c: applied a patch from Guillermo S. Romero that adds basic support for saving layer masks. Setting mitestone so it's not forgotten to complete this.
Resolving as duplicate of bug #336670, because it has the patch attached that implements mask saving in PSD files. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 336670 ***
