GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 109269
fontilus hebrew strings shown reversed
Last modified: 2021-07-05 10:58:10 UTC
Description of Problem: When I open a hebrew font with fontilus, the hebrew example string shows reversed. (like "olleh"instead of "hello") Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. set your env variable to LC_ALL="he_IL" 2. make sure you have the recent fontilus with the hebrew translation. (from the CVS) 3. open a font that have hebrew charcters like "Arial" or "Times new roman" Actual Results: The hebrew string you get is: .םכחו היכרד האר לצע הלמנה לא ךל Expected Results: The expected string is: לך אל הנמלה עצל ראה דרכיה וחכם. How often does this happen? All the time :) Additional Information: I think this problem is in all the BiDi languages...
do you still have this issue?
yes. It still happens.
-> gnome-utils gnome-font-viewer has now moved to gnome-utils, reassigning.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-font-viewer/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
