GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 104334
Open With doesn't work with selected items in the list view
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
Nautilus 2.2.0. Open With doesn't work with selected items in the list view. Reproduce: 1. Left-click to select a document (say a text file) in the list view 2. Right-click on the same file and pick an Open With (say gedit) Nothing happens. You have to unselect the item and then right-click on it in order to be able to use Open With again.
I can't duplicate this.
I can reproduce this. I'm using nautilus 2.2.0.1 from the package that is available in Debian Sid as of now (2.2.0.1-1).
Cannot reproduce with 2.2.x
Reproducable in Red Hat Phoebe-3. Probably means that the bug will be present in the next release of Red Hat.
For those who can reproduce, does it happen with every file you select ie. in a totally consistent way, or does it happen sometimes or in specific circumstances?
In Phoebe-3 ("Nautilus 2.2.1") it happens everytime. I've tried with different file formats and different graphical layouts.
sisob@eircom.net: it happens in a totally consistent way. All menu items on the "Open With" menu fail to work when the document is selected, and the items always work when the document is unselected. I'm seeing this with Nautilus 2.2.1 on Debian/unstable. Can I suggest that this bug should have a severity of: major - a major part of the component is nonfunctional.
I can't reproduce this with nautilus from cvs HEAD. The code that handles double-clicks changed recently, could you please check if this problem is you can still reproduce this with nautilus HEAD? Marking NEEDINFO for now.
I have a slackware 9 with nautilus 2.2.1 and that doesn't work. open with gedit (example in list mode doesn't work) with icon mode no problem thank
Sorry for my post (bad english) example : open with gedit in list mode doesn't work, with the icon mode no problem
nautilus script doesn't work too with list-view (with icon no proble)
nautilus 2.2.1 is not cvs HEAD. Please try if this still happens with nautilus 2.2.3.
marten-devel: I just tried and I cannot reproduce this bug using Eel and Nautilus from CVS/HEAD. I'll report back here when 2.2.3(.1) makes it into Debian/unstable.
I confirm. It's fixed in 2.2.3.1. Closing bug.
