seems very similar to bug 101836
Comment 2 David Kennedy 2002-12-25 20:59:02 UTC
Same trace as a bug which is marked as a dupe of 97487 - I'll mark as
such and reopen it

Comment 3 Andrew Sobala 2003-01-06 00:56:48 UTC
It's not a duplicate, apparently, so reopening.
Comment 4 Mark McLoughlin 2003-01-06 05:07:44 UTC
Alex: are you sure this is 2.1.5 ? Does it happen regularily ? Are you
using a transparent panel ?
Comment 5 Alex Duggan 2003-01-06 05:10:13 UTC
I am not using a transparent panel and it seems to happen about once
every few days. What other information do you need? I'm using the
2.1.5 tarball.
Comment 6 Mark McLoughlin 2003-01-06 05:13:54 UTC
Thanks Alex ...

I'm at a loss really.
Comment 7 Alex Duggan 2003-01-10 23:12:09 UTC
Mark, I've used 2.1.90 for serveral days without a problem, but I just
go the crash which looks very similar, I'll attach it.

backtrace of crash. What other information can I provide?
Comment 9 Mark McLoughlin 2003-01-11 05:36:30 UTC
Hmmm ... what version of gtk+ ?
Are you using a transparent panel ? If yes, is your background an
image? If its an image is it tiled? If its a color is it a gradient or
a solid color ?

This info isn't really going to get the problem fixed - I'll still be
at a loss even with the info, but at least we'll know under what
conditions its happening. Thanks.
Comment 10 Alex Duggan 2003-01-11 06:02:36 UTC
I'm using gtk+-2.2.0 and I'm not using a transparent panel, just the
default background.
Comment 11 Mark McLoughlin 2003-01-13 21:42:31 UTC
What applets do you have on the panel ?

Comment 14 Elijah Newren 2003-01-27 22:17:41 UTC
Note that bug 104542 reported gnome-panel version as 2.2.0 and bug
104543 reported gnome-panel version 2.0.6. So this looks like a bug
in multiple version, even if somewhat rare.

From bug 104542:
Current config: One menu panel with launchers for Nautilus, Terminal,
and Mozilla, the system monitor applet, the weather applet, the
notification area, and the clock. One edge panel with the Show
Desktop button, pager, and window list.

I'm still none the wiser on this.

Alex: did you have the notification area on your panel when you got
these crashes ?
Comment 17 Alex Duggan 2003-03-10 02:26:32 UTC
Yeah, I did have a notification area on my panel when I got the crash.
I haven't seen the crash in 2.2.x so I'm going to close this bug and
reopen it if I see it again.

Comment 19 Elijah Newren 2003-03-18 16:23:07 UTC
Should this have been closed? Bug 104542 reported the version as
2.2.0. So, perhaps I should have updated the version details and
GNOMEVER keyword, but I'm not sure it should be closed. I'll leave it
up to someone else to decide, though...
