GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 81207
menus in the panel should open when items are dragged over them
Last modified: 2020-11-07 12:14:10 UTC
It would be great if menus and draws on the panel opened when items where dragged over them. Some examples. If I have a draw with a text editor in it, I should be able to drag file.txt from nautilus and when I pass over the draw it should open allowing me to drop the file onto the text editor. In a similar vein, I should be able to do the same thing with a file and the gnome-menu. ie. drag file.ext to the gnome-menu icon, the menu opens and then i should be able to drill into the menu for the application that I want to open the file with. This would really enhance the usability of the gnome-panel.
Would be nice. I think mac calls this spring-loading.
I think this bug is fixed . I could observe the behavoir in the latest drawer. gnome-panel-2.6 I think we can close this bug.
It's working for drawers, but not for menu.

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years. If you still use gnome-panel and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-panel/-/issues/ Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
