It would be great if menus and draws on the panel opened when items where
dragged over them.

Some examples.
If I have a draw with a text editor in it, I should be able to drag
file.txt from nautilus and when I pass over the draw it should open
allowing me to drop the file onto the text editor.

In a similar vein, I should be able to do the same thing with a file and
the gnome-menu.  ie. drag file.ext to the gnome-menu icon, the menu opens
and then i should be able to drill into the menu for the application that I
want to open the file with.

This would really enhance the usability of the gnome-panel.

I think this bug is fixed . I could observe the behavoir in the latest drawer.

old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.
