providing an option to draw icon text on an opaque background rather
than the current transparent one would solve this issue for all gtk+
themes.  I suggest that this option be provided (it will help with
visibility against some backgrounds as well).  

If necessary this behavior (i.e. using gtk font colors for icon
labels) could be enabled only in a "gtk+" nautilus theme.

The GNOME theme now uses the background color from the gtk theme.
