Description Dave Lounsberry 2001-09-10 00:58:08 UTC
The main window backgound color/image does not use any GTK theme property.

* REPRODUCIBLE: Always

* STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

 1. Apply GNOME theme in nautilus.
 2. The main window's colors do not follow the GTK theme.

* ACTUAL RESULTS:

 see above

* EXPECTED RESULTS:

  I would expect that the GNOME theme in Nautilus would use all the gtk theme
values and not use any of it's own colors/patterns unless manually customized.
The current white color does not look good when using a dark gtk theme.

given the bug filed about the sidebar also using the GTK theme, there is a
problem here - the sidebar and the content view should not use the same
background, as it does not sufficiently distinguish them. If GTK themes can
specify a secondary pattern or color, we could use that (I'll look into that
soon); otherwise we shouldn't do this.

If you look at gmc, it colors the icon area background white by default. So does
the GNOME icon selector. I think this is normal and expected behavior. I suppose
we could make it use the color Gtk would use as text entry background and assume
this is the theme's "white equivalent", but gmc does not do this (I tested) so I
think making the icon view background just be white (or the nautilus theme
color) by default is totally OK.

I suggest marking this WONTFIX. For now, I am moving this to 1.2 because I do
not consider it a 1.0 blocker but Andy feel free to still do this for 1.0 if you
really want (as I said though, it's probably not needed or even a good idea).
