Description Quim Gil 2007-07-29 21:55:00 UTC
The footer in the beta website is still the default Plone. We decided a long time ago the elements to form the big footer in the home and the small footer in the secondary pages. See http://live.gnome.org/GnomeWeb/ComponentSelection

Let's review what we agreed almost one year ago:

Large Footer for homepage:

- GNOME Logo: we recently decided to take this out since there are already many logos in the home.

- Copyright: yes, see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454556

- "Hosted by RedHat" and link to redhat.com

- Last Edit Date: yes, see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348010

- "Edit this Page" link with small icon: yes, see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118291

- License: I think we agreed to have CreativeCommons BySa, we would put the icon.

- Sitemap: Yes, see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454561

- Contact: Yes, see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118291

- Legal: I don't remember having discussed anything about this page. Asking to th board whether we need it.

- RSS Feeds: that icon, or a page summarizing the feeds available.

I believe we also need to make a mention to Plone next to the RedHat recognition since the Plone guys have put a lot of work and commitment in this project.

In the secondary pages we would have only: Copyright, Last Edit Date, "Edit this Page" link with small icon, License, Sitemap | Contact | Legal | RSS Feeds.

Just for the record, Ramon says the footer can be edited directly on the CSS at https://edit.gnome.jardigrec.eu/portal_skins/custom/footer/manage_main

Comment 2 Quim Gil 2007-07-30 09:55:35 UTC
Reviewing past discussions we see that we agreed not to put "Last edit" date since this doesn't provide clear information about a page being updated or outdated. Let's take this out, then.
Comment 3 Quim Gil 2007-07-31 20:35:06 UTC
There we go with a non-look&feel proposal. Let's see how it looks like:

Big footer for the home in 2 rows:

Sitemap - Edit this page - Available feeds [RSS] - Contact us

Hosted by [RedHat] - Powered by [Plone] - [CreativeCommons] - Terms of use - (c) 2007 GNOME Foundation

Small foother for secondary pages in 1 row:

Sitemap - Edit this page - Available feeds [RSS] - Contact us | [CreativeCommons] - Terms of use - (c) 2007 GNOME Foundation

The "-" and "|" are just suggestions, feel free to decide in the separators.

We will need to sort out details about the links. Once we have agreed the design.

I suggest that someone goes ahead with Quim's suggested changes. Waiting until "Agreed with the design" will just block us, without nobody responsible to unblock us. Then we can see if we like what we have.

Another comment from bug #464477 from Quim:
"
Let's link to http://foundation.gnome.org/legal/ in the footer and in the
default "About" page."
