GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 645462
Turn the monitor position
Last modified: 2011-03-22 20:03:28 UTC
Hi. You can put a quick button on the shell to run the monitor from landscape to portrait? on a PC with touch screen would be ideal.
What device are we actually talking about here? Does the device have a gyroscope of any kind? If you're talking about a tablet computer, I don't think it should have any kind of menu, it should be automatic (with a way to override it). If you're asking for a "display rotation" icon in the shell, it would probably get done as an extension (see bug 634332).
The device in question is a netbook asus eeepc t101MT and does not have a gyroscope. On youtube a minute 9:00 is an example of how it works http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvwBLkBwcuk&feature=related Even an extension would be fine. You can use it only on the devices that need it.
Turns out there's already one in gnome-shell-extensions, as per bug 631995. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 631995 ***
