Gnumeric was printing a mirror image until I turned off advanced features on 
the printer (HP5550). Somehow Gnumeric was activating the double side printing 
feature of the printer and printing a reverse image. Turning off the advanced 
features has not affected any other program -- so far.

There is really no way that this could be a gnumeric bug. It should have to do
with the underlying printing library.

OK, but Gnumeric is the only program with this problem -- should I be directing 
this somewhere else?

gnumeric is one of the few things that use gnomeprint on win32.  If you were to
run gedit you'd have the same problem.

Closing. These apps have all moved to gtk+ print now.
