GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 200676
attach my vcard to message
Last modified: 2021-05-19 11:32:10 UTC
We need to be able to have an option to attach your vcard to outgoing mail. You may want different vcards for different identities.
another job for Trow?
This would require specifying/saving vcards on a per-identity basis.
I'm cleaning out my Evolution bug list.
this could be added to the signature editor. Have an "include a vcard with this signature" option, with a selectnames popup.
still missing in 2.3.7, would be cool with having a /me identity
Still missing in 2.7.4. Dans idea from comment #4 looks good.
we can use the "self" contact from eds but this would be mean one vCard for all accounts. It would be relatively simple to add this. If you really want one different vCard for each accounts, things gets more complex.
Bumping version to a stable release.

Could the vCard attacher pull from the address book? With an option to specify which address book contact to pull information from in the signature editor? It looks like this is what Dan suggested in comment #4.
Still missing in 2.26.1. It would be really nice to be able to do "Insert > VCard" to insert the personal VCard. I think Evolution knows which card is the user's one because when I modify my personal identity in Gnome, my card in Evolution is changed as well. There is two different behaviour : when adding a VCard as a file or when doing "Right Click > Forward contact". In the first case, the card appears included in the message, in the second case it also appears attached as a normal file (nice improvement since this post). I would recommend the first behaviour, I think it is better NOT to see the card as an attachment. Thank you.

Bug 224589 is one possible option for this. Bug 625633 ask for a context menu item.

I vote for comment #4
We don't support voting in this Bugzilla as it's not a popularity contest.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new enhancement request ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
