GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 122682
"remove from this topic" in bookmark editor
Last modified: 2016-10-07 21:28:07 UTC
In the bookmarks editor, it would be nice if you could open a topic, select a bookmark in that topic and be able to select "remove from this topic" from the context menu. Currently you have to edit the bookmark and remove it from the topic in the dialog box. The lack of this also makes the "delete" option in the menu confusing, as this actually deletes the bookmark completely rather than deleting it from the current topic.
I don't know if I want an extra option, but I fully agree that there is a very real risk for confusion here. I just ran into it -- I noticed I had the same bookmarks in two categoris and I started removing them from one of them. I was very surprised when I noticed that my bookmarks were now gone from both categories. People are so used to the more typical "folder" approach to bookmarks that I think this is something that a lot of people can run into.

Mass reassigning of Epiphany bugs to epiphany-maint@b.g.o
After discussion on IRC, the consensus was that Delete should mean 'Remove from this topic' when a bookmark belongs to >1 topic, and in all other cases, the bookmark should be deleted. There should also be a way to recover deleted bookmarks, but that is bug 111172.
updating GNOME version.

Hi, the bookmarks code has been rewritten from scratch. When you have a convenient opportunity to test the new version of the code (which will be present in Epiphany 3.23.1) please check to see if your issue is still a problem, and reply here. Thanks!
Sorry, but it's been over 13 years since I filed this bug. I won't be able to provide you with the information you're asking for.
Hi, this is a mass close of all bugs in the NEEDINFO state. If you think this bug was closed improperly, just leave a comment, thanks!
