GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 117228
Rebalance Dialog not raised
Last modified: 2018-06-29 20:35:03 UTC
in the register, entering a transaction, when i forget to enter a transfer account, gnucash presents popup "Rebalance Transaction" offering 3 choices: ( ) Balance it manually ( ) Let GnuCash add an adjusting split (*) Adjust current account split total already, this could be better, more like "you didn't enter a transfer account". but it gets worse. i cancel the popup, and enter a transfer account. then gnucash again presents popup "Rebalance Transaction" now offering 4 choices: ( ) Balance it manually ( ) Let GnuCash add an adjusting split (*) Adjust current account split total ( ) Adjust other account split total at the very least, the default is wrong, "adjust other account" would be the right thing to do. but really, it should do that without even asking, like as if i had not forgotten the transfer account in the first place.
I can't really reproduce or evaluate this bug until we fix the "Orhpan" bug#327780
It seems that in 1.9 the rebalance dialog isn't even popped up. Gnucash just automatically balances the transaction using the Imbalance account. I don't know how long this has been true for.
