GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 407578
GIF images print as solid black rectangles
Last modified: 2008-02-05 05:23:18 UTC
This bug was reported to the Debian BTS. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=410811 "Subject line pretty much says it. Ordinarily this is a minor annoyance, but Newegg's RMA e-mail contains a GIF for the barcodes. Attempts to print from both evolution and eog both printed black rectangles, so I am assuming the underlying library has the bug." The bug was reported using version 2.12.1 but I have confirmed it with 2.17.0 (and eog 2.16.3). It happens with both transparent and non-transparent GIF images.
According to the original bug submitter, this also happens for tiff images.

Please try the patch in bug 513699 and see if that helps.
I'm pretty sure bug 513699 fixes this. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 513699 ***
