GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 364717
Sao_Paulo timezone informations not correct
Last modified: 2008-08-06 09:58:46 UTC
That bug has been opened on https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/evolution-data-server/+bug/67955 "The timezone for Brazil (i don't know about other countries) is wrong. America/Maceio, America/Sao_Paulo, for instance, should be UTC -3:00, but in evolution they are UTC -2:00. The system (linux and gnome) itself is right. That issue appears only in evolution, which affects my tasks, by showing reminders in 1 hour in advance. Maybe this bug report is related to gnome bug http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361990 Before you ask, i'm not using daylight saving time. ... " The summer time switch used by calendar/libical/zoneinfo/America/Sao_Paulo.ics is set to "DTSTART:19701011T000000" which is wrong, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time#Brazil "DST will start on November 5th 2006"
The file calendar/libical/zoneinfo/America/Maceio.ics is also wrong. I don't know about other places, once i live in Maceio. Maceio will not enter in summer time (daylight saving time). By the way, a doubt: Why doesn't evolution-data-server get information about timezone from tzconfig? Once all my system is correct, except evolution, i think it's a good ideia to integrate it with gnome in this aspect. Thanks, Wendell.

This was implemented with the 2.12 series. evolution-data-server now uses system timezone information. Please use Evolution 2.12 or higher to get the fix. FYI.. the latest stable version is 2.22.3 :-) Marking this as FIXED. [the downstream ubuntu bug is also resolved with the same reason]
