GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 319177
Zoom/Pan transition effect in the slideshow
Last modified: 2018-07-12 00:04:14 UTC
F-spot looks like to copy iPhoto features. One of the iPhoto features I like the most is the zoom / move effect effect in iPhoto slideshows. It is pretty much undescribable, so I suggest people to try it, it really is a must :) Other information:
Just my two cents: I believe you're talking about something similar (on linux) as the xscreensaver, GLSlideShow ? Not sure if this is easy performance-wise though (I am not a developer) but GLSlideShow does just that: it uses OpenGL. At least, this should be a user-set feature in the preferences.
Yes, I just tried GLSlideshow and it is exactly what iPhoto slideshow does. It would be really cool if it could be implemented inside f-spot :)
Yes, I second this one. It is one thing I am missing from Mac's...
FYI: There is a similar bug (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=320917) which proposes a separate project to display a slide show and interact with F-Spot, Gthumb, etc. Post accordingly.
Having a zoom+pan effect is definitely something I'd like to see. Especially for screesaver mode.
It looks like the bug /enhancement has been implemented in http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=320917
Renaming to be more clear.
Check the GL slideshow effects in f-spot 0.3.2 ! Sure, there's no Pan+Zoom yet, but...
I would LOVE to see this effect in f-spot. You have my wote to build this in.
I really like this effect too! This effect is much older than iPhoto and it is called Ken Burns Effect. You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Burns_Effect
I search for this effect on linux fo a while now! Would be very very cool if its is included in F-Spot!
We should post this request here also: http://f-spot.org/New_Features
F-Spot has moved to https://github.com/f-spot/f-spot/issues If this Bugzilla ticket is still valid in a recent version of F-Spot, please feel free to post this topic as a ticket in the F-Spot project on GitHub. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping as we are planning to shut down GNOME Bugzilla in favor of GNOME Gitlab.
