Description Sean Middleditch 2004-03-02 02:07:25 UTC
In the context menu on the desktop, the "Change Background" item should be
changed to "Change Wallpaper," since "Wallpaper" is used in the Wallpaper
Chooser. (i.e., this is breaking consistency of terms used.)

Likewise, "Background" is used for per-folder wallpaper settings. (i.e.,
in the Edit menu.)

Changing severity to minor (this could cause some confusion or
annoyance to a user, moreso than just a typo), and bumping priority to
high, as this really should be fixed to prevent confusion and keep
consistency.
Comment 2 Vincent Noel 2004-08-31 15:06:35 UTC
Now the Wallpaper Chooser is called Desktop Background Preferences...
So I guess this is void now ?
Comment 3 Jaap A. Haitsma 2004-08-31 16:51:57 UTC
Funny I just proposed yesterday on the Nautilus mailing list to rename this to
wallpaper to get less confusion with folder backgrounds. See:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/nautilus-list/2004-August/msg00151.html

See also bug #131790 with a proposal to remove the Use Default Background
context menu item.
Comment 4 Vincent Noel 2004-10-01 20:26:51 UTC
Since everything just uses "Background" now, I guess this bug can be closed.
Another bug can be opened for gnome-background-properties if there's not one
already.
Feel free to re-open it if you want.
