GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 99473
Change of working directory still needs access to "HOME" environment variable setting
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
Hi, The problem that I've had is that using the package on a laptop both at work and at home, I've had to change the "HOME" environment setting to be the local drive. When reconnected to the network, this setting is then reset for the home drive on the network. Could you change this to use another environment variable - say gimprc or provide the ability to change the home directory. Yes, I've changed it within the program but this modifie's the "gimprc" file on the "HOME" environment variable drive so it still requires access to "HOME" environment variable path before it will use the specified working directory Regards Keenyn.

Sorry, I used the wrong entry. Of course this bug is unrelated to bug 99457.
You would dramatically increase the likelihood of this issue being fixed if you could provide a patch.
Couldn't you workaround your problem by using the --gimprc command-line option? This is from the gimp man-page: -g, --gimprc <gimprc> Use an alternative gimprc instead of the default one. Useful in cases where plugins paths or machine specs may be different.
There is another environment variable: GIMP_DIRECTORY
According to my own experience and several postings on the gimpwin-users mailing list, the GIMP_DIRECTORY variable works perfectly. This is not a bug.
Michael, Thank you for that GIMP_DIRECTORY is what was required. Regards Keenyn.
