gnome panel crashes upon start up. prior to initial crash, the mouse began
responding erratically and the horizontal panel jumped to the left vertical
postion. the error message- gnome panel(process 1120) crashged due to a
fatal error. also lists (process 12355 and 1285 at times) . also an error
message -application nautilus (process 1122)crashed due to a fatal error.
any ideas how to fix this or should i reinstall the system?

The gnome-panel crash is a known bug, which is now fixed. You can try
updating this package. As for the nautilus bug, this is something
else. You can look at nautilus bugs in bugzilla. Thank you for your
report.
