GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 96510
[Solaris Multihead] Terminal geometry is not proper in 2nd screen after a logout and login
Last modified: 2006-04-28 03:05:59 UTC
I am running Sun's stable build 12 - (CVS snapshot date 'Tue Oct 15 15:00:00 BST 2002'). Steps to reproduce: 1. Configure a multihead server with two screens on left (scr0) and right (scr1). 2. Invoke gnome-terminal in scr0 with geometry 45x45+45+45 3. Invoke gnome-terminal in scr1 with geometry 45x45+45+45. Type xwininfo and verify the geometry. (it shows geometry as 45x45+45+45 on both screens) 4. Select 'Action->logout' and enable the 'Save session' check box. Login again. 5. Type xwininfo and click on the terminal in first screen (scr0). It shows the geometry, correctly, as - 45x45+45+45. 6. Type xwininfo and click on the terminal in second screen (scr1). It shows the geometry as - 66x23+46+299!
this is probably related to the fact that metacity doesn't set DISPLAY on child processes. Bug 103575.
oh wait. I'm on crack. Forget that.
This may well be a gnome-terminal bug as well; msm is useful for debugging SM stuff since it has a better verbose mode than gnome-session.
Has this changed in later releases?
