GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 95980
Nautilus should have an easy way to see # of files displayed, not displayed
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
I would really like to see something like this somewhere in the nautilus display: 90 files, 10 selected, (5 hidden) Further, I imagine it would be very nice if clicking on the (5 hidden) portion would display the hidden files. (If no files were hidden, it should say "none hidden". If there are no files to hide, but hiding is on, it should be 0 hidden.) Clicking on "none hidden" would hide backup and dot files again. This would give me more information about my directories, and also allow me to easily show hidden files that I normally don't care about at all.
2 comments: 1. I like the idea of showing this info in the status bar, proabably need to work out the details. 2. The correct way for us to allow show/hiding of hidden files is to have a view menu entry but thats another bug.
yeah. there should be a menu item to perform that task. Doesn't mean it shouldn't also be accessible someplace a little easier to mouse to. :^)
i have a more detailed status bar proposal in bug 96816, the show hidden stuff should be discussed as part of bug 43472 marking as dupe of 96816 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 96816 ***
