Description of Problem:

I set the gnome panel to be on the right side of the desktop (instead of
being on the bottom). All works OK at first. But if I log out and log in
again, gnome panel crashes as soon as I log in. All attemts to start it
again result in a crash. The endresult is an annoying window asking me
if I want to try again (which always results in a crash) or report a bug
report.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Set gnome panel to be on the right side of the desktop
2. log out
3. log in

Actual Results:

gnome panel crashes at logging in, or any other subsequent attempt to
start it.

Expected Results:

it should start normally

How often does this happen?

I'm using RedHat 8.0, gnome-panel-2.0.6-9
