Details

Description Andrew Sobala 2002-10-08 15:29:41 UTC
Package: metacity
Severity: critical
Version: 2.4.2
Synopsis: Metacity shuts down and restarts
Bugzilla-Product: metacity
Bugzilla-Component: general

Description:
Regularly when using GNOME, all my window decorations disappear, then
they reappear. Simultaneously, they are all rearranged and the order of
windows/window placement lost. I think this is metacity crashing,
closing and then restarting, but I don't know how to get a stack trace
in this situation.

Run metacity from a virtual console (Ctrl+Alt+F1) under gdb,
is one approach. Also if you run with METACITY_USE_LOGFILE=1
METACITY_VERBOSE=1 env variables a log file will be created in /tmp
that may be useful. You may also want to try latest CVS and see if
it's fixed. Please move bug to REOPENED state if adding more info.

Last 500 lines of logfile before shutdown
Comment 3 Andrew Sobala 2002-10-09 15:39:58 UTC
I've attached the last 500 lines of the log file before it shut down.
Since this only happens ~1 time per hour, I can't run it under gdb due
to slowness :-)

Andrew, I'm marking this a dup; if you could attach your logfile to
that other bug I'd appreciate it.
