Description Havoc Pennington 2002-10-01 19:23:56 UTC
when doing a DISPLAY action on a desktop file with type Link, the "uri"
variable
is e.g. http://www.cnn.com, but the "file" variable is e.g.
file:///home/devel/hp/.gnome-desktop/CNN.desktop, and we get the mime type
from
the "file" variable. So we use the viewer for the desktop file's mime type
(text
viewer), not the viewer for the web page.

See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=70666 for more
details.
Comment 1 Havoc Pennington 2002-10-09 14:52:56 UTC
Taking the liberty of 2.2.0 milestone, this is really a major issue.
(In combination with 94628, results in seeing web pages as
raw HTML source code.)
Comment 2 Kjartan Maraas 2003-10-28 21:03:31 UTC
Still seeing web pages as raw source in 2.4.x. Is the rest of the
problem still the same too?
Comment 3 Kjartan Maraas 2005-01-06 11:04:08 UTC
And it's still showing urls of type http://www.cnn.com/ as type Word Processor
in 2.8.x. Isn't it supposed to suggest the web browser as the handler for these?
Comment 4 Sebastien Bacher 2005-05-22 12:48:47 UTC
a part of the issue is deprecated with the bonobo slay and GNOME 2.10. The
current behaviour has still some issue as described by bug #172708, I'm closing
this bug.
