Description James Willcox 2002-09-16 16:01:52 UTC
Really, the only thing the HIG says about the recent documents menu
(AFICT), is that it should be updated immediately when the user opens a
doc. IMHO, it should also specify:

1) Maximum number of recent docs in the menu (or at least a default)
2) Whether or not the recent docs should appear in a submenu.

Also, I was considering making the max number of items configurable through
the control center. What do you guys think about this?
Comment 1 Murray Cumming 2002-12-10 13:12:15 UTC
Being realistic, it's probably best not to write these details until
we have some reusable Recent Documents functionality in the GNOME
APIs. It would just create another HIG-realworld conflict.
Comment 2 Murray Cumming 2002-12-24 01:45:29 UTC
People seem to expect the libgegg RecentDocuments stuff to go into
libgnomeui for 2.4.
Comment 3 James Willcox 2002-12-24 03:25:31 UTC
Yeah, Anders seems to think it's ready to go in for 2.4. There are
some usability issues that need to be discussed, though. Specifically

Comment 4 Calum Benson 2010-03-05 18:54:42 UTC
An ancient and obsolete bug up to a point, but handling recent files sounds like something we might want a 3.x UI pattern for as there's still some inconsistency around. See also bug #93033.
Comment 5 Allan Day 2014-09-26 12:16:40 UTC
I'd be willing to add a section on recent documents to the menu bars page.
Comment 6 Allan Day 2014-09-29 15:16:07 UTC
I added something basic to start with.

Thought I'd closed this with comment 6. Apologies for the noise.
