Description robert.kinsella 2002-08-20 11:21:13 UTC
Gnome Sun beta2 build 3 (16th Aug) on Solaris 8 u4 Intel
(This issue was first reported as part of bug 87124.)

When using gkb if the user accidently selects a wrong keyboard e.g. US 105,
the pipe symbol ( ' | ' ) loses it's keymapping.
Once this happens selecting the correct keyboard (PCAT 101) will not
fix it. The user must select the correct keymap, logoff and login
again for it to be recovered.

Checked with Sun beta2 build 4 (20th Aug) on Solaris 8 Intel. I was
unable to reproduce the problem.
Here are the steps i followed.
1. Select the US 105 keyboard layout.
2. The tooltip on the applet shows "US 105 key keyboard" and the
pipe '|' key loses its functionality.
3. Add the US PC/AT 101 keyboard.
4. Close the preferences dialog and select US PC/AT 101 keyboard.
5. The tooltip on the applet shows "US PC/AT 101 keyboard"
6. The functionality of the pipe key is restored.
