this is because lots of desktop shortcuts are busted, probably a 
bonnobo issue. Anyway in nautilus 2.2, delete will be the default 
keybinding for move to trash so it'll work on the desktop, it would 
be nice if we could fix the remaining issue though

Nope, I use Nautilus 2.2 and you still can't use the Delete key to 
delete files on the desktop.
