GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 90218
Generate "Fuzzy" paths from freehand
Last modified: 2002-08-09 08:10:56 UTC
What I would like to see is a feature similar to the pencil feature of Flash MX. What happens is you draw a curve or a line free hand with all the imperfections, and then the line is corrected to a smoother version. Effectively, all the imperfections are removed from your drawings. Technically speaking, for the GIMP the feature would require a least squares approximation or similar to evaluate the best curve for the job, and then save that as a path. In Flash the amount of allowable detail is determined by the zoom on the image. Its a highly useful tool because you can zoom out a little and do a very quick circle, which is a perfect circle once you zoom back in. Flash uses several modes, one which is more likely to give your free hand drawing straight lines, one which is more likely to give curved lines and another which doesn't modify your free hand drawing. -- _oO|Richard-Sheffield-UK|Oo_
This feature has already been requested in bug #79446 (also using Flash as an example) and earlier in bug #55366. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 55366 ***
