- Fatail failure - panalapplication exits at logintime.
- Panel is in screen, but it is empty, and rigthclick on panel do'nt bring a submenu.
- Failure happens at logintime
- Running newest version of linux and gnome.
- Message is "fatal memory segmentation failure"
- Linux is placed on hdb.
- windows is placed at hda1.
- Red Hat's GUI doubleboot is placed on the masterboot on hda.
- Linuxboot placed at hdb.

First i got the problem as root every time i reeinstalled linux. I did somthing - i do'nt know what - and suddently panel worked currect in rootmode.
Know i have - for the first time - entered usermode, and the problem begins again.
That pointout that the problem most be somthing with the default startupsettings of the panel.
The biggest problem is actually that i can't get in contact with the logout/shutdown button, so i have to forse shutdown by fysically cut of electricity for the pc - rather critical!!!

Have a nice summer from Christian Heyn

>How-To-Repeat:
As i explained above - failure happens at startuptime. I do'nt know if the same problem occures if i use a KDE-platform.As i also explaines - the problem most bee in the setting of the panel at logintime. I can say that because login as root - i do'nt know why - works at precent time. Now it is the same problem when i login als user.
Can you explain to me how i can see the settings of the panel both for user and root when i log in as root. By comparing these to i can (may be) even solve out the problem my self.

Oh yes - I have GUI when i am starting up and loging in. If i can get around without using console i do it.But OK - sometimes i use it.
Yes - one thing more - I have set up linux for danish languache.

Be patient with my spelling and gramma.

we will need a backtrace to actually look at this bug. You can
usually get a backtrace by logging in to failsafe mode, then running
the panel with `gdb gnome-panel` then type `r` , then wait for it to
crash, when it crashes type `bt` then give us the output of that
command. Leaving as NEEDINFO till this information comes through

Also please try the latest release of gnome-libs and gnome-core.
