On the "menu panel", most of the panel items touch the edge of the screen
so that they can be clicked when the mouse is at the edge of the screen.
For example, the menus, launchers, and the tasklist.

It would be great if, for all panels and all applets, a click on the edge
of the panel made it to the applet. This is probably a matter of making the
applets smarter.
