Description Joseph Timothy Foley 2002-06-27 18:55:58 UTC
The default quicken-style check printing is remarkably lame.
There should be a option to make the output be much closer
to what quicken outputs. I have postscript code to do as
such, but I have no idea if/how it would be integrated.

The output should print on the top check, middle check, and bottom check
not just the top one. It also doesn't print memo or anything else
by default.
Comment 1 Derek Atkins 2002-06-28 05:09:18 UTC
Yes, this is a problem. IMHO check printing should add a couple more
features: 1) we should provide a way for users to define their own
"named check-type" configurations and save them. 2) the "last"
setting should be saved and re-used.
Comment 2 Chris Lyttle 2002-06-28 05:30:34 UTC
I agree the output is lame, but it DOES print top middle and bottom
checks in a 3 check page. We should probably also at some stage add
the option of printing 3 checks at a time to a full sheet. Marking
this RFE as it does work.
Comment 3 Derek Atkins 2003-06-27 15:41:23 UTC
FYI, I did add support for "Deluxe" personal checks.
Comment 4 James Eniti 2005-07-19 19:41:51 UTC
I have 3 per sheet checks and would like to print them in one pass as required
by the mfg. (each pass thru the fuser removes water content and increases risk
of failure).
Comment 5 Fred Krogh 2006-01-16 20:02:03 UTC
I really like gnucash, but the feature for printing checks is unusable. The quicken format prints too low on my printer. The custom feature is a pain to set up but I could live with that if it didn't delete the settings whenever closing the checking account window. That in my view is a BUG. The suggestion to allow several formats and SAVING them is a nice one, but just saving the current custom setting would help a lot.

Not being able to print more than one check at a time is also a real pain. Someway of marking all checks to be printed and printing them all at once would be awfully nice. One would need to indicate for the first check whether it is the first, second, or third on a page.

I am using GnuCash 1.8.12 under Gentoo, and will continue using it, if hand printing checks doesn't become to much of a hassle. Thanks for all the work done so far.

Changing all RFE's to unspecified version
Comment 7 David Hampton 2006-01-28 05:02:16 UTC
The upcoming 2.0 release has been fixed so that all of the print dialog settings are remembered from one invocation to the next. I have opened a new enhancement request for printing multiple checks at once.
