Description Calum Benson 2002-06-17 18:04:11 UTC
The following issues came out of the recent ui-review and are recommended
for fixing prior to GNOME 2.0.1:

- No mnemonics on Patterns, Colors, Emblems buttons
- Use regular font size for "Drag a pattern tile to an object...", this
different font could be an accessibility problem (it's hard enough to read
even with good eyesight!)
- Tab order is weird (Close before Add)
- Can't focus icon list with keys, "Patterns" should have mnemonic to allow
this
- No default button, should probably be Close
- Remove bold font from "Patterns:"

Adding keywords to all ui-review bugs in one mass change, sorry for the spam. It
would be very nice if the folks doing UI review stuff would be sure to add
'PATCH' to the bugs that have those. I'm (tentatively) not marking these 'high'
but the release team [having gotten approval from the docs and i18n people]
would like to see these in ASAP on the 2.0.1 branches, so that i18n folks can
start translating at their convenience.

removing bold on Patterns makes it look uber-ugly,
Focusing the icon list is not possible without the major work, only in
sun-patches.

[Search for 'luis spamming' to catch every instance of this email.]
In order to better track Sun's bugs for Sun and Ximian's internal use, I've
added a temporary keyword to some bugs. I apologize for the spam, and for the
use of an additional keyword, but this is the best way for Sun to track 'it's'
bugs without interfering with the community's own triage and bug behavior. If
you have any questions or objections, please drop me a note at louie@ximian.com
or email bugmaster@gnome.org for more open discussion.

Focus order is not wierd [ it transpires after some hours ],
in fact - this is a feature of the GtkScrolledWindow, it will take
focus, but not render itself as focused - so ... it's hard to tell
that it's focused. It looks like the close button is getting focused,
but it is not - it's just getting the default button border.

So ... if you want a visible focus indication, we need to file a bug
against Gtk+.

fixed as far as it can be in CVS.

reopen for documentation

michael: how do you navigate the scroll window? I tried to tab to it,
then move around using the arrow keys, and it just seemed to change
the focus (not highlight/select a background, my goal). Also, the
buttons on the left (backgrounds, etc.) all have underscores in their
names (and the mnemonics don't actually work). This is with a naut
snapshot as of 2 days ago.

michael/naut bug folks: how does this one relate to bug 76304? I'm
thinking that this deals with the first two points of 76304, but the
las t (selecting a background/etc. via keyboard only) isn't addressed.
Should I retitle 76304? Mark as duplicate of this and add a note about
the necessary addition? Also, selecting a background by keyboard only
seems like an important accessability thing - is this important to the
sun folks?

This change does not affect User Guide docs.
Comment 10 Luis Villa 2002-08-06 18:51:11 UTC
I'm closing this; dave, if you feel your stuff is definitely a bug,
please open a new one. thanks.
