Description Calum Benson 2002-06-17 17:56:13 UTC
The following issues came out of the recent ui-review and are recommended
for fixing prior to GNOME 2.0.1:

- Script menu item needs mnemonic
- Move 'Show Trash' to 'Go'menu with s/Show Trash/Trash
- 'Move to Trash' should be in the 'Edit Menu'
- 'Empty Trash' should only appear in the Trash View
- 'Rename' and 'Duplicate' should be in the 'Edit'
- 'Edit' menu should have standard items 'Cut','Copy', 'Paste' not suffixed
with 'Text', 'File' or otherwise
- s/Hide Sidebar/Sidebar with checkbox
- s/Hide Toolbar/Toolbar with checkbox
s/Hide Location Bar/Location Bar with checkbox
- s/Hide Status Bar/Statusbar with checkbox
- '_Arrange' and 'St_atus Bar' have the same mnemonic - suggest 'u' for
Status Bar
- 'View as List' and 'View as Icons' does not have mnemonic
P_references and _Restore Icon's Original Size have same mnemonic
- s/About Nautilus/About
- View > Arrange Items > Tighter Layout => 'Compact Layout'

Adding keywords to all ui-review bugs in one mass change, sorry for the spam. It
would be very nice if the folks doing UI review stuff would be sure to add
'PATCH' to the bugs that have those. I'm (tentatively) not marking these 'high'
but the release team [having gotten approval from the docs and i18n people]
would like to see these in ASAP on the 2.0.1 branches, so that i18n folks can
start translating at their convenience.

In order to better track Sun's bugs for Sun and Ximian's internal use, I've
added a temporary keyword to some bugs. I apologize for the spam, and for the
use of an additional keyword, but this is the best way for Sun to track 'it's'
bugs without interfering with the community's own triage and bug behavior. If
you have any questions or objections, please drop me a note at louie@ximian.com
or email bugmaster@gnome.org for more open discussion.

I made all but two of these changes.

The files/text suffix is kinda necessary right now to prevent some
confusion. There can be times when you have a text area focused with
text selected, and the Cut/Copy/Paste still refers to files (such as
the notes sidebar). Until that is fixed, I think we should leave the
suffix there.

I didn't add mnemonics to the View as Icons/View as List because this
menu is dynamically generated using bonobo server files. I think this
will be as easy as adding mnemonics to the strings in the bonobo
server files, but I want to make sure of that.

Docs updated with these changes.

Closing, then. Thanks a bunch, Eugene.
