on boot up ,after x login,desktop came up, but panel came up blank, said it was due to a segmentation fault

"application 'panel' (process 1610) has crashed due to a fatal error: segmentation fault"

this occurred on the first boot up of a fresh installation

i opened an xterm, typed 'panel', and everything worked

i don't know, because i haven't rebooted yet.  i'll let you know
