GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 83547
Nautilus Crashes at Startup
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: nautilus Severity: major Version: 1.1.18 Synopsis: Nautilus Crashes at Startup Bugzilla-Product: nautilus Bugzilla-Component: general BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (1.117.2) Description: Description of Problem: When logging in, nautlius crashed. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Log in 2. 3. Actual Results: Expected Results: How often does this happen? Additional Information: I've been having lots of problems lately with nautilus at log in. It starts, takes up all the CPU, but never actually starts up all the way. No icons appear on the desktop. Generally, if I killall nautilus and run it by hand, it starts up. So, it did that, logged out saving desktop session, and when I logged back in, I got this crash. I'm not sure it's going to happen everytime but I figure good crash logs will help track down bugs. Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/nautilus' [New Thread 1024 (LWP 2774)] [New Thread 2049 (LWP 2779)] [New Thread 1026 (LWP 2780)] [New Thread 2051 (LWP 2781)] [New Thread 3076 (LWP 2782)] 0x420b4769 in wait4 () from /lib/i686/libc.so.6

------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2002-05-30 11:09 ------- Unknown version 1.1.x in product nautilus. Setting version to the default, "unspecified". Reassigning to the default owner of the component, nautilus-maint@bugzilla.gnome.org.
As a follow-up, after submitting the bug, nautilus restarted correctly. I then logged out and logged back in and got another crash. I closed the crash dialog and it again restarted correctly. I'm running the nautilus2-1.1.18.0.200205300503-0.snap.ximian.1 rpm version.
Another dup of bug 74311. Thanks for reporting, though. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 74311 ***
