Description bef5471 2002-05-24 23:22:00 UTC
Package: panel
Version: 1.4.0.4
Severity:

>Synopsis: Panel process crash when I log in
>Class: sw-bug
System: redhat 7.3 on PentiumIII

>Description:
I've just installed RedHat7.3 and almost whenever I log in, either with simple or admin user, the first... thing which happen is the appearing of a grey "Error" window that announce:

"Application "panel" (process 3997) has crashed due to a fatal error (Segmentation fault)".
Then, clicking on the relative "close" button, the panel disappear, until I need to type the panel command in a Terminal in order to see the panel again (and then I can use it).

Marco from Bologna, ITALY.

>How-To-Repeat:
The problem is present since the first login, after the installation of RedHat7.3. It happens a few seconds after I've typed username and password, in graphical mode, when the system is opening the panel.

Marco from Bologna, Italy.

Comment 1 Kjartan Maraas 2002-05-25 16:03:30 UTC
Please try gnome-libs-1.4.1.7 and gnome-core-1.4.0.8 or newer. I've
made RPMS available at http://www.gnome.org/~kmaraas if you can make
use of those. Report back here if this fixes the problem or not.
