Has this been fixed in a later release?
Comment 2 Sejal Patel 2002-08-05 15:53:54 UTC
No it has not. I've tried it on all 3 of my linux boxes and adjusting
the volume through the applet does not in any way change the volume.
Telling it to mute does not do anything at all either. I'm now using
debian experimental/unstable installation of gnome2 on 2 of the boxes
and garnome v0.12.2 on another box (which is a debian unstable only).

I have a CS4232 sound card in the garnome v0.12.2 and one of the 2
experimental/unstable installations.

I have a Sound Blaster Live in the other box (my gaming box).

All systems are using OSS drivers not ALSA and are using esound
Comment 3 Kjartan Maraas 2002-08-05 21:55:31 UTC
What apps are you using to test this? Is esd running as the user that
is logged in? etc?
Comment 4 Sejal Patel 2002-08-05 23:41:41 UTC
Yes esd is running on all machines and in addition to regular event
sounds I tested it with xmms (esd output) and esdplay with .wav files
on all 3 machines.
