Apparently -D_REENTRANT is not appearing in

 pkg-config --cflags glib-2.0

on Tru64. See bug 78257 for details.

could you please post the following things in order to find out, why
the thread options weren't found.

* How did you call configure?
* Attach the output of configure.
* Attach the file config.log (after running configure)

My Tru64 machine is deceased, so I can't help any further
and I switched to Linux,
