The gnome-vfs-extras smb module sends passwords unencrypted. It might be
nice to use the challenge-response authentication first, then fall back to
plaintext (unless configuration settings forbid it).

Caching a successful set of credentials would be a usability improvement.

This looks like it may be a duplicate of bug 81914 (which was marked
as wontfix)

Also, looks somewhat related to bug 86467.

This would be a problem with libsmbclient if it was still the case
with gnome-vfs-extras 0.99.11. Please file a bug at
https://bugzilla.samba.org/ if the problem still exists.
