Search Center: Range selection should be less fussy about focus
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
In the search center (normal tab), range selection only works when keyboard focus in the range entry. It is particularly confusing that range selection doesn't get activated when you press the "Range" radio button. (I solved this in the zoom dialog by moving focus to the "custom" entry when the corresponding radio button was selected. But I wonder if the HIG people consider that PC.) In this particular case, it shouldn't matter where focus is in the dialog, since there is only one field which accepts range selection.
I take i tyou would like at least the behaviour frm the analysis tools: clicking the range radio button focusses the range entry field and clicking on the range entry field selects the button?
Clicking on the radio button now focusses the entry field. I have tried the unfocused range selection idea and am not sure whether I like it since we can add up with keyboard focus in the search text entry and range selection in the range entry... Well, I implemented it anyways but to enable it the appropriate pref must be set to TRUE on the next to last sheet of the pref dialog. If we decide we don't like it we can remove it, if we like it we can have the pref default to TRUE or set it permanently.
