Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: control-center Severity: major Version: 1.4.0.4 Synopsis: First time logging into the gnome desktop, the panel crashes almost every time Bugzilla-Product: control-center Bugzilla-Component: general Description: This version of Linux runs fine except for the very first time that the Gnome environentis started. Roughly 9 out of 10 times, the panel crashes. I know that the first time you enter Gnome, it runs a program to setup user preferences, so my guess is that the problem involves this software. After I log out and re-loginto the Gnome environement, it works fine. Debugging Information: (no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)... Thank you for your bug report. This particular crash is a known problem that is being worked on. Hopefully it will be fixed in GNOME 1.4.1. In the meantime, if you use an RPM-base linux distribution, you can try the gnome-libs and gnome-core packages available at http://www.gnome.org/~kmaraas and see if those help. If you do choose to install these packages, it would be a really great help to us if you report back the results.
