Hi
running GC Version: 3.1, Build ID: 3.0-118-gd2ef5fd0f+ (2018-04-28) with Finance::Quote: 1.47 on a sql data file with Mac OS 10.12.6 (Sierra)

Note: All screenshots below are from German versions of GC; GC dates are "dd.mm.yyyy". File dates are "YYYY-MM-DD um hh.mm.ss"

GC 3.0 displays existing comments ("Bemerkung" in German) on transactions (attached screenshot 01...).
Reopening the same data file with GC 3.1. shows the comment field as empty (screenshot 02...).
(FWIIW multiple opening with 3.0 and 3.1 shows the comments to still exist in the data file, but not displayed in 3.1)
Entering "new" text with GC 3.1 shows the text on entry (screenshot 03...) and upon leaving the transaction (screenshot 04...)
Reopening the same data file with GC 3.0 shows the "new" comment, the previous one has been lost (screenshot 05...)
Reopening the same data file with GC 3.1 again does NOT show any comment (screenshot 06...)

Workaround: DO NOT USE GC3.1 if you value your comments ;)

Cheers

Are you sure of that bug number? Bug 796369 is about an autogen problem
in Gnumeric.
Comment 5 John Ralls 2018-06-17 15:53:16 UTC
Yes, I'm sure:
"Bug 796369 - Notes lost or perhaps just not displaying when using SQLite backend"

When I click on the linked bug that's where

Bug 769369, on the other hand, is the Gnumeric bug. I made a transposition when I typed it into the "duplicate of" field when I resolved this.
